NEW APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING POLICY – SET YOUR OWN APPOINTMENT ON HANDSHAKE!

Students:

Students can now schedule their own appointments with Career Services staff directly on Handshake!  Simply visit https://uic.joinhandshake.com/ and log into your account.  If you haven’t used Handshake before, you can log in to claim your account using your University credentials.

Once you’re in the account, click on the “Career Center” tab in the upper left-hand corner and it will take you to the page where you can click on “Appointments” and select the topic, date, and time.

After that, you’ll receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link for the session.  If you would like a resume or cover letter review, just have those materials ready for the session.  For other topics, it would be helpful to come with a list of questions or issues you’d like to discuss with the advisor.

Alumni:

UIC Alumni can now schedule their own appointments with Career Services staff directly on Handshake!  Simply visit https://uic.joinhandshake.com/ to create a brand new account, if you haven’t already created one.  Be sure to create a new account with your email of choice and you will receive an email to complete registration and select a password.  Your previous University credentials will not work in this system.  IMPORTANT:  Be sure to select the college in which you graduated in the Profile section of Handshake when you are registering.  That field has to be selected in order for you to see open appointments.  It’s also helpful to have your major information as well.

While we do not offer same-day appointments, you may come in during walk-in advising hours for assistance.

You can reschedule your appointment through your Handshake account.  Please be sure to complete all steps to cancel your currently scheduled appointment then proceed to make another appointment that fits your schedule.

You may choose to meet with a different advisor if you like, but we recommend you first speak with the advisor that specializes in your field if your schedule allows.

Depending on your field of study, you may also seek service from other career centers on campus.

UIC Graduates (Alumni) may schedule an career advising appointment with a Career Services advisor.  Additionally, UIC Graduates (Alumni) have lifetime access to UIC hosted career / job fairs hosted on-campus unless noted otherwise.  UIC Graduates (Alumni) may attend on-campus career workshops hosted by the UIC Career Services office unless noted otherwise.

Refer to the Alumni page for complete details on alumni access to career services and events.

Unfortunately, our services are limited to University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) students. Please contact your university’s career services offices for assistance.
