Once you’re in the account, click on the “Career Center” option on the left-side menu and it will take you to the page where you can select “Appointments,” then click on the blue “Schedule A New Appointment” button. You can continue to choose a category (department), appointment type, then select the date, time, and advisor.
After that, you’ll receive an email confirmation for your appointment. Virtual appointments will include the link and in-person appointments will include the location of the Career Services Office, SSB 3050.

Alumni
UIC Alumni can now schedule their own appointments with Career Services staff directly on Handshake! Simply visit https://uic.joinhandshake.com/ to create a brand new account, if you haven’t already created one. Be sure to create a new account with your email of choice and you will receive an email to complete registration and select a password. Your previous University credentials will not work in this system. IMPORTANT: Be sure to select the college in which you graduated in the Profile section of Handshake when you are registering. That field has to be selected in order for you to see open appointments. It’s also helpful to have your major information as well.
Once you’re in the account, click on the “Career Center” tab in the upper right hand corner and it will take you to the page where you can click on “Appointments” and select the topic, date, and time.
After that, you’ll receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link for the session. If you would like a resume or cover letter review, just have those materials ready for the session. For other topics, it would be helpful to come with a list of questions or issues you’d like to discuss with the advisor.
