Lighting Your Career Pathway through Internships

Career Services, in collaboration with the Office of the Chancellor, announces a brand-new opportunity for UIC students. Illuminate – Lighting Career Pathways Internship Program is a special dedicated internship program connecting Chicago area employers to UIC students. Employers from the non-profit and for-profit sectors across a wide range of fields and interest areas are offering internship positions that are EXCLUSIVELY RESERVED for UIC students. Posted in Handshake under the Illuminate Collection, these opportunities will be open only for UIC students to apply.

ALL POSITIONS WILL BE PAID!! For profit employers will fund their own opportunities, and non-profit unpaid organizations will take advantage of UIC funds to compensate students for the internship. NOTE: Students hired for the non-profit internships will be paid through a grant offered directly from the university and should check with Financial Aid prior to applying to see how the awarding of a grant may affect their financial aid.

The employer partners participating in this program are so confident that they will find high quality intern candidates from the UIC community, they have committed to posting and hiring a UIC student for at least one (or more) of their internship positions.

All positions are located on Handshake – students should follow the directions posted for each position on what materials to apply, but minimally a resume and cover letter will be required.

Illuminate positions will be offered on a rolling basis throughout the entire year, with the first batch of offerings posted for application for Summer 2025. Additional opportunities will be posted as they become available, starting in the fall.
