About
Qianying (Chainey) Gao serves as the career development specialist of Career Services at the University of Illinois Chicago. Chainey is passionate about human development, engagement, and advising and is dedicated to advocating for and supporting individual growth. Bringing a decade of human service experience back to the UIC community, she is committed to empowering students and alums to explore their personal and professional development and helping them navigate various experiences. Chainey is a proud international alumna of the UIC Flame community. During graduate school, she served as the graduate assistant at Campus Housing to support residents and earned an M.Ed. in urban higher education.
Before returning to UIC, Chainey served in different roles within the Office of International Students and Scholars Services at Northwestern University. She led international community engagement, collaborative programming initiatives, and orientation programs, alongside her efforts to advise on immigration regulations to help international students navigate their international student experience.
In her free time, Chainey enjoys reading, listening to music, and exploring different cafes in Chicago.
