UIC Students and Recent Alumni*… Get Ready for the JC Penney Suit-Up Event!
On October 14, from 6 pm -9 pm, at the North Riverside Park Mall’s JC Penney store (JCP), UIC students and recent alumni* will be able to participate in a special shopping event. Just for you, JC Penney will keep their store open after hours, and provide you with a 40% off coupon** that will apply towards your purchases for business attire and related accessories. JC Penney has successfully hosted schools throughout the United States, and UIC will be the first school in Chicago to suit up with JC Penney!
A free shuttle bus service will be available during the event to transport you to and from UIC and JC Penny during the event (logistics will be provided following RSVP). UIC, let’s make this first-time event a success! See below to RSVP by October 10th (use buttons below to RSVP).

Who is allowed to attend the event?
The JC Penney Suit-Up Event is open to all currently enrolled UIC students and alumni who have graduated in the last five (5) years.
Can a current UIC student (or a graduate of the last 5 years) bring a friend(s) or family member(s) to participate in this event?
Students/Alumni are able to bring friends and/or family members to the event. However, everyone will need to share the one coupon given to the UIC student/alumni.
Are we only able to shop for career wear during the event?
You can shop and purchase anything in store. However, the 40% off coupon will only be applied towards the above mentioned career wear and accessories.
How can I get transportation to/from JC Penney?
A free shuttle bus will be available departing from UIC. However, students and alumni planning to take the shuttle bus must RSVP by October 10. Please use the buttons above to RSVP.
I RSVP’d for the UIC Suit-Up Event and plan on taking the bus. Where should I go to get on the bus?
UIC Suit-Up Check-in will run from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
If you plan on taking the bus, check-in will begin at 5:00 pm inside SCE at the Halsted Street entrance (near the Bookstore entrance). Look for the Career Services table and the UIC Suit-Up Event Banner. Current UIC Students must have their UIC ID Card in order to check-in and get on the bus. Alumni must have RSVP’d prior to check-in and show proof of ID at check-in before getting on the bus.
Each student, alumni, and their guest(s), who checks in to get on the bus will be given a wristband that must be worn to ride the bus and enter the JC Penney store.
UIC Suit-Up Event bus riders will begin loading the bus at 5:15 pm, and the shuttle will start at 5:30 pm. Shuttle buses will run throughout the event, to/from UIC and JC Penney, running approximately every 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Check-in at SCE will close at 8:00 pm. The last bus allowed for riders to get on the bus to go to JC Penney is 8:15 pm.
After 8:15 pm, the shuttle bus service will continue, allowing only those riders with the required wristband to be transported from JC Penney to the campus. The shuttle bus service will end approximately at 10:30 pm.
I want to attend the event but missed the RSVP deadline. Can I still attend?
Yes. You can still attend the event. If you would like to take the shuttle from UIC, you can check-in at the table located in SCE near the Bookstore (see above details regarding the check-in table location). A UIC ID card is required for check-in before getting on the bus. Please note that priority seating will be given to those who submitted a RSVP.
If you already have transportation to JC Penney, you can check-in at the store, starting at 6:00 pm, with your UIC ID card.
I did not RSVP. I want to attend the event but do not plan on taking the free shuttle bus from UIC to JC Penney. Can I still attend?
Yes. Students and recent alumni who want to attend and have their own means of transportation can go directly to the store and participate in the Suit-Up Event. If you missed the RSVP, you can check-in at the store starting at 6 pm. For directions to the check-in location, use plus code directions: 41.845670, -87.811676. The JC Penney entrance is next to the Fallas store. Look for balloons and the JC Penney Suit-Up Event standing banner near the check-in entrance.
I am a UIC employee and would like to volunteer for this event. Can I get the discount as well?
UIC Employees who volunteer for this event will receive one (1) coupon.
