"What Did You Just Say?" Identifying and Addressing Microaggressions

Virtual Event:  https://uic.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYocOGprTItHNztB-IhV7TCC-lx9DjIkylm

"We are in changing times," is a common saying that, to many, is considered to be an understatement. In recent times we have seen how individuals have become emboldened to make comments (and take actions) - in class, at work, in social situations, etc. - that could be identified as a microaggression. But what is a microaggression? How do you recognize a microaggression? How can microaggressions impact people who experience them? Also, how do you respond to, or address a microaggression in your career? Join us as we discuss these questions, and yours, in a panel discussion. Our panelists will be:

- Dr. Charmaine Sevier, Executive Director of Human Resources, Prairie State College

- Dr. Robert Clay, Executive Director of the Center for Student Engagement & Intercultural Programs, Governors State University
