Finding a job is a process, and it takes dedication and stamina. Expect to spend significant time researching organizations, creating a strengths-focused resume, networking, writing cover letters, and filling out online applications. While it may seem daunting, students who are the most successful in making the transition from college to career generally begin their job search months before they graduate, some more than a year prior. Here are some resources to get you started:
UICcareers.com is a job board utilized by hundreds of employers seeking qualified UIC students/graduates. Update your Personal and Academic profiles for full access. UICcareers.com is also your source for all Employers Interviewing On Campus. In addition, we maintain an extensive list of Job Search Sites.
Career Fairs are a great place to connect with employers.
Graduate Assistantships can be challenging to obtain - visit the link for tips on navigating this process.
Once you have received an offer, you may need to know about Salary Negotiation, as well as places to research what a reasonable salary might look like.
